Drug and Alcohol Addiction Clinic
If you or someone you care about suffers from addiction to drugs or alcohol, contact us about addiction counselling with our psychotherapist who specialises in this area.
Integrated Energy Therapy
Integrated Energy Therapy (IET) helps us to reconnect back to ourselves, releasing deeply rooted cellular memories to 'get the issues out of the tissues.' A person feels uplifted and has a great sense of wellbeing after a session. Clients remain fully clothed. This therapy is non-invasive, gentle and safe for anyone with pre-existing health conditions.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology uses muscle testing to detect and treat the underlying causes of any distress or pain you may be experiencing e.g. anxiety, digestive problems, back pain, headaches. A large menu of techniques are drawn from to rebalance your whole system. This may include, but is not limited to: working on reflex points, inner language reprogramming, inquiry into unconscious beliefs, nutrition adjustments, trauma release, and emotional stress release.
Manual Spinal Therapy
Manual Spinal Therapy is a hands on, gentle, careful therapy which is respectful of the sensitivity of the spine and spinal nerves to damage. There is no indiscriminate 'cracking' of bones into place as experienced when undergoing some other spinal therapies. Our chartered physiotherapist has trained in this practice in five countries and is an expert in his field.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is used for a variety of reasons:
To accelerate recovery after injury, e.g. strain or sports injury. To offload stress from the body and mind and release muscular tension. To dispel lactic acid from muscles after strenuous activity or sports. To reset unhealthy postural habits before they result in chronic pain.
The massage therapists at Acumi specialise in sports massage, recovery massage and holistic massage. They are supported by a chartered physiotherapist and spinal specialist who is involved in your diagnosis and treatment where appropriate.
Massage therapy can be clinical, focusing on specific muscles in the case of injury. Alternatively a holistic massage treats the whole body, allowing the body and mind to re-balance and de-stress. Some clients may experience adverse reactions during the following 48 hours after a massage, as the body releases toxins from muscles into the bloodstream for expulsion, and muscles reset themselves into a healthier posture.
Neuro-Developmental Therapy
Neuro-Developmental Therapy is provided for groups and individuals who are recovering from brain injuries e.g. stroke, physical trauma, or anneurism. It is also used to rehabilitate patients with brain disorders such as cerebral palsy and downs syndrome. Selva Prakash completed research into sports injuries at the University of Limerick in 2009. He post-graduated as a Master of Adapted Physical Activity. This discipline enables patients with brain disorders to actively participate in sports activities. He has improved the functional activity of many brain injury patients.
Chartered Physiotherapy
Our Physiotherapist has advanced knowledge, skills and experience in the management of spinal problems such as disc prolapse and sciatica. He has successfully treated many patients with neck and hip disorders, back pain and arthritis. Selva has completed specialist training in Belgium, Ireland, Singapore, South Africa, the Czech republic and the Netherlands since his graduation as a chartered physiotherapist in 2000.
Psychotherapy and Counselling
What is the difference between Psychotherapy and Counselling?
Counselling usually explores an immediate issue such as a family or relationship conflict. It is often short term with a specific focus yet not as thorough or as extensive as psychotherapy, which further explores the client's thought processes and way of being in the world, instead of focusing on specific problems. The skills, training and tools of counsellors and psychotherapists can overlap according to the client's needs. A client may be suffering from depression or anxiety after being made unemployed. Counselling may explore this as one specific issue to deal with. Psychotherapy would explore the client's overall functioning on a deeper level, especially if underlying issues become apparent that are affecting or amplifying their responses.
Reflexology
There are over 7000 nerve endings in the feet. Reflexology accesses these nerve endings which are linked to every organ and system of the body. A reflexologist can help to unblock the flow of energy in organs and re-balance the entire body system for health and wellbeing. Reflexology is a complementary therapy which means it is used along with conventional medicine to assist in the body's recovery from disease or illness. It does not diagnose or cure anything. It has been found to be particularly useful for stress related conditions as it helps to discharge the negative effects of stress and stimulate the body's own healing.
Reiki
Reiki is a very relaxing, calming and nurturing experience which works with the most subtle energies in and around the body. Life energy is directed exactly to where it is needed in the body and mind to balance, refresh and renew. Reiki is suitable and safe for adults and children. Clients remain fully clothed. It is non-invasive, gentle and safe for those with pre-existing medical conditions.
